Langston Boulevard ZINE
Arlington Arts asked me to collaborate with them on a zine celebrating the renaming of former Lee Highway to Langston Boulevard. The zine contains sections on each of 5 neighborhoods along Langston Boulevard, with a focus on history, historical buildings, and long-standing businesses in the area. Elizabeth Carriger with Arlington Arts worked with me on what to include and wrote all of the copy, and I laid out the pages and did the illustrations and hand-lettering. It was a really interesting challenge to wrangle so much dense information into 28 pages! I used hand-lettering and wonky, hand-drawn illustrations to try and keep it fun.
Hard copies were riso printed by the excellent Risolve Studio and distributed at events and via mail. The full zine is available to view on the Arlington Arts website.
Here are a few of my favorite pages/illustrations!
